A Character of ‘Fabuleux Destin’
#4- Amélie Poulain
Portrayed By Audrey Tautou
Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain (2001)
A cute movie. A quaint little coffee shop. An amazingly twisted little upbringing. Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain tells the story of Amélie, a woman whos kooky history leads to a kooky upbringing. Whether it be a suicidal fish, or the unfortunate end to her mother, you can see it riddled in her need to play practical jokes and play games with people. A shy girl, It’s her constant curiousity and love for all things interesting that makes her such a fantastic character. Finding an old box of childhood memories, Amélie decides to find the child who owned them. Upon realising the power that this simple act can have, Amelie decides to dedicate her life to bringing happiness to everyone she can, from the glass man to her fellow workmates, and, ultimately, herself. She’s nice, she’s loveable, she’s cute…and she’s french. So, I propose a toast to France, their ability to understand every emotion known to man, their ability to exentuate on the good ones, and their ability to personify them in Ms. Amélie Poulain
