Back To The Future, one of the greatest films, is fronted by teenage student Martin Seamus Mcfly. Spending his average day skateboarding around and hanging with Jennifer (Claudia Wells). Its not until one day in 1985 that a new invention made by Marty’s friend Doc Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) sends Marty back, and forth, and back, and forth, and way back, and then back…to being forth.
Why Marty makes his way to #5 is that Mcfly embodies the question of time travel. What would it be like and how would you react? Well, to Mcfly, it’s a ‘far out’ experience. simply, he’s just so goddamn cool. Give him 5 minutes in any decade and he will manage to be wearing the coolest threads of the time. A slacker at heart, Marty makes his way through the past and the future, continuously dodging the baddies led by leader Biff Tannen (Thomas F Wilson) in very well done action scenes (think the Hill Valley chase scenes of all three films). The best example of Mcfly’s smoothness though is Part I’s prom scene. Seeing Mcfly rock out with the guitar covering Johnny B Goode…gold. He’s is just an awesomely laid back guy who rides skateboards, time travels & plays guitar. COOL!
